- Screed the concrete with a straightedge to cut off excess material and bring the slab to grade.
- Tool or sawcut contraction joints to control cracking; for a 4-inch driveway slab, joints are typically spaced no more than 10 feet apart and cut to about one-quarter of the slab thickness.
